COLONIAL HEIGHTS – Rescue crews from throughout the state came to Central Virginia this week to participate in the Rescue Challenge. The first rescue challenge was held in May 1995, an invitation-only event to six departments from throughout the state. One construction worker was killed and four other people were injured in a crane accident on a construction site connected to the extension of the 7 subway line on the West Side of Manhattan Tuesday evening. Officials said the boom of a crane at “Site J” of the 7 subway line extension project on 34th Street and 11th Avenue came off and crashed to the ground. (04/06/2012), firefighters from the Greeley Fire Department were called to 3000 13th St (Scott Elementary School) in Greeley on a report of someone who had fallen from a roof. Upon arrival, the fire crew (GFD Engine #3) found that the victim had fallen from a higher level roof onto a lower level roof with no access except for their own portable ladders.
